Roy Buchanan의 "The Messiah will come again" 이라는 명곡에서의 느낌은 울부짖는 기타의 소리라고 감히 정의하고 싶다.
1, 2호기인 신검(神劍)으로 속세(俗世)를 떠나 내공 수련에 증진하기로 했으나 로이 부캐넌의 보검(寶劍) 텔레에서 나오는 엄청난 살기(殺氣)를 잊지 못해서... 이번에도 짝퉁을 조립해보기로 했다.
나름 의미를 두었다. 1호기는 험-험 구조로 대다수의 즁즁음악에 대비할수 있도록 하였고, 2호기는 70이라는 숫자에 포인트를 둬서 70 리이슈를 컨셉으로 저렴히 조립하였다.
마지막 3호기는 fender를 마무리할,,, 그리고 울부짖는 텔레를 컨셉으로 조립해보기로 했다. 컵셉잡는중에 여러 변태? 텔레의 컨셉들이 난무했으나... 여러 동영상을 확인한 결과 싱-싱구조인것으로 판단되어 원본대로 진행하기로 했다.
전설에 의하면 지미옹께서도 초기에 사용하였고, stairway to heaven 기타 solo 부분에 텔레를 사용했다고 한다.
ebay에서 여러가지 body를 검색하였다. 그중에 ASH Body로 적당한 것이 있어 두눈을 질끈 감고 질렀다.
ash 무늬는 아름답다. 자연적인 나무의 무닛결을 그대로 살려서 작업하는것이 좋을거라 생각되었고 2호기 작업때처럼 쉘락으로 작업하였다. 스트랫 애쉬보다는 좀 무거운 느낌이다. 도대체 무게의 기준이 무ㅏㄴ지 모르겠다.
최종적으로는 52 Tele의 모습과 같다. 하지만 내용물이 다르다... 각종 쉽게 구할수 있는것들로 구성하였다.
Pickup은 구하기 쉽게 sky로 통일을 했다. 초반에는 험으로 장착할려고 했으나 텔레는 싱-싱이다라고 해서...
TCHF1(Neck) : 7.5K, Alnico V
TCHR1(Bridge) : 8.7K, Alnico V
튜너는 락킹타입으로 국산 진호라는 업체의 것을 사용하였다. 기어비는 1:19... 동일한 높이로 되어 있어 나중에 srting retainer를 달아 줘야 겠다.
콘트롤부는 최대한 저렴하게 꾸몄다. 국산 SW에 국산 가변저항들... 그리고 톤콘트롤 콘덴서는 아래 기사를 참고하여 적은 용량으로 러샤 오일 0.01u를 장착하였다.
브릿지는 저렴하게 wilkinson OEM vintage 3 saddles type으로 하였다. body에 고정타입이라 현의 울림을 잘 전달 할것으로 생각된다.
실제 현물을 보고 장착시 고민에 빠졌다. hole이 맞지 않는다....
그래서 검색을 해보니, Tele도 종류에 따라서 많은 bridge들이 존재했다.
현재 가지고 있는것은 American Standard에 장착된 6새들 타입이다..
요 텔레는 스트랫과 다르게 접지선을 요 구멍으로 뺴내고 브릿지에 접촉시키는 컨셉이더라..
아래 펜더 정품 American Standard Bridge를 장착하였다.
내부 0.01uf의 오일cap을 달고 배선후 장착 완료된 상태
픽업은 약 2.5mm 높이로 했고 고음이 약간 무딘것 같아서 고음부 픽업을 살짝 들었다.
장마라 그런지 쉘락이 잘 마르지 않는다.
줄높이는 약 1.5mm~2mm정도로 셋팅했다.
구글링을 하다보니 개조관련 내용을 찾았다...
The standard value of the tone cap is 0.047uF, but for most of us this is almost overkill, because when you use your tone control the tone will get clinically dull and liveless. If you don´t want darker tones like this, I recommend changing the tone cap to a much smaller value (e.g. 3300pF, up to 6800pF). This will guarantee that your tone will always be defined and full of life and color, even when you completely close the tone control. You can dial in numerous different tone colors with this simple and inexpensive mod, and it´s a good field to experiment on your own. Personally I use selected 3300pF Orange Drop caps and 250k pots for a classic, vintage Telecaster tone.
대충 Tele의 발고 깔끔한 톤을 위해서는 저용량의 cap을 사용하라..는 의미인것 같다.
자기 추천이 250K에 3300pF~6800pF(0.0033u~0.0068uF) 란다..(너무 작은것 아닌가..?)
원래 250K에 0.025uF 러시아 오일캡을 사용할려고 했는데... 이번 기회에 0.01로 할까 고민중이다.
An often discussed subject is the Telecaster neck pickup, as it seems to divide players into two different parties: you either love it or hate it. For full disclosure, I´m lean more towards the "I hate it" camp and usually replace this pickup in all of my Telecaster guitars because the standard pickup is too "boxy" sounding for my tastes. If you are willing to reroute the pickup cavity (or better yet, let an experienced luthier do it), here are some suggestions that sound incredibly good on a Telecaster:
- a Stratocaster neck pickup
- a P-90 soapbar pickup (especially on a Thinline Telecaster)
- a Gibson or Gibson-style Mini Humbucker
저자는 오리지날 tele neck pickup이 싫다고한다... 그래서 위에 스트랫 넼픽업, P-90, 미니 험을 추천한다.
젠장... sky tele껄로 질렀는데.... 일단은 보류다.
그래도 위안은 험 픽업 구녕이 마련되어 있다는거다.ㅎㅎ
If your guitar is equipped with a 4-conductor cable humbucker, you can perform all kinds of coil splitting to enlarge the number of possible sounds … singlecoil mode, parallel mode, in phase, out of phase, etc. A prime example of a good sounding bridge pickup humbucker for Telecasters is the DiMarzio "The Chopper" pickup. A pickup like this can give you the best of both worlds: a hot and punchy humbucker tone and a classic, twangy singlecoil sound in the split mode. one problem with this is that all the pickup manufacturers use different color codes, so there is no general guideline how to wire all the coil splitting options, as it depends on the pickup you have installed.
브릿지에 험픽업을 사용하면 여러가지 조합으로 병렬, 직렬, 싱글, phase별로 들을수 있다. 이건 이미 똑같은 기능으로 1호기에 적용되어 있다.
디마지오 쵸퍼란놈을 찾아보니 Sky에 있는 레일타입의 험이 있으니... 물론 크게 상관은 없을것 같다.
하지만 이를 위해서는 콘트롤 보드(철판때기)에 홀가공을 해야 하는데... 무리지 싶다.

추가로 콘덴서에 대한 내용이 있어 올린다.
Basically, our passive tone control can be used to dampen the high frequencies. When you close the tone pot, it rolls off the treble response, resulting in a more mellow tone. Adjusting this control affects the sound very noticeably, but it’s still recognizably the same guitar. As a basic rule, you could say the bigger the cap, the darker the tone. Depending on the cap’s value, or capacitance, the effect can go from slightly warmer (2200–6800pF) to a “woman tone” (0.01–0.047uF) up to completely dark and “clinically dead” (0.1uF and higher). Another thing to remember is that the tone cap is always part of the circuit and even influences the guitar’s tone when the tone pot is left fully open—that’s the reason the tone cap is such an important part of the sound.
캡 용량을 크게 하면 과도하게 고음이 많이 죽는단다... slightly warmer (2200–6800pF), “woman tone” (0.01–0.047uF), “clinically dead” (0.1uF and higher)

They sound even more “Fendery” than the 715P and 716P series.
오렌지 드롭은 필름콘덴서이다. 가장 펜더스런 톤을 만드는데 사용된다...라는데...
폴리프로필렌으로된 715p, 716p 시리즈가 좋단다.
225p와 PS 시리즈는 폴리에스터 필름타입이고...
어쨌든 오디오와 같이 폴리프로필렌 타입의 캡이 좋은건가...?
Mallory 150 They sound very punchy with a good edge—a perfect Strat tone cap for blues and rock. With overdrive, they sound very mellow and musical. This cap works perfectly with single-coil pickups, but will work with humbuckers as well. If you want a modern, sound tone, this is a cap you should try.
폴리에스터 타입인데... 이것도 좋단다..
ERO Roederstein MKT1813 They have a very woody and transparent tone; in a Telecaster they can sometimes sound like an acoustic guitar. If your Strat has a very woody and resonant primary tone, this cap will bring it all to the surface when amplified.

NOS Styroflex caps Polystyrene caps are a perfect substitute for silver mica caps, but much smaller and easier to find in the typical values we use for guitars. If you want maximum transparency and no tone coloration at all, this is the type of cap you should try.
스티롤 타입의 캡은 원래 정밀 Eq에 많이 사용된다. 저전압이라 스틸롤 사용이 사이즈상 적당한데 맞는 용량 구하기가 쉽지 않을 것이다.
Silver Mica They’ll improve a guitar’s tone dramatically, and they’ll improve top end and clarity due to their low-loss design—they’re the absolute best-sounding caps for tone circuits, tone stacks, and filters. A good substitute for silver mica caps are the Styroflex caps I mentioned last month. They’re much smaller in size, and therefore much easier to handle as a tone cap.
스티롤없을때 대용으로 보면 될라나..?
Paper-in-Oil (aka “PIO”) These capacitors use oil-soaked paper as dielectric material and are therefore well damped and very transparent, smooth, defined, punchy, and natural sounding— bandwidth is very high and distortion very low. The very early Sprague Bumblebee caps from the ’50s are PIOs, and they’re easy to identify because of the blob at one of the leads. Plenty of NOS PIO caps are available, and they’re excellent quality—some are even military graded—and they’re often cheaper than caps from Jensen and others.
좋은 말만 다 넣은것 같다. 오일캡은 러시아 군용 K40 으로 하는게 좋을것,. 여기 텔레에도 장착했음.
세라믹등 많이 있겠으나,... 개인적인 생각으로는 어느정도의 수준이 되는 캡이면 큰 무리는 없을것 같다. 물론 나는 오일캡을 달았지만... amp를 만들때도 어느정도 급이 되면 잘 차이를 인지하기 힘든것 같고, 초기에는 차이가 좀 느껴지나... 사용해보면 그놈이 그놈 같아서....
